The humble beginnings of the kybun health shoe began some decades ago as Karl Müller started exploring and experimenting in his workshop with his first shoe concepts. His idea took shape and insight from indigenous people in Africa and his time living in South Korea, but the end product was very much born and developed in Switzerland together with his long time friend and business partner Markus Bartholet. The elastic, springy composition they developed mirrors the special qualities of the rice fields when the water has drained away. This provides the shoe with a unique selling proposition that stands out from ordinary shoes, a testament that is confirmed by its customers every day.
Switzerland is a landlocked country with close relationships to all its neighbours. From the 3 main languages, a significant 10% of the population speak Italian and this plays a special role in the culture and habits of the country.
The kybun shoe was initially produced in northern Italy, Montebelluna until the necessary supply and logistic chains could be established in Switzerland but the Italian link is no coincidence and you will notice that many kybun shoes take their name from Swiss-Italian villages such as Ascona, Brissago, Silvaplana and Tenero. In close cooperation with the shoes’ Italian designer (Andrea Agostinetti) the origins of the kybun shoes lend a perfect harmony between Swiss precision and Italian design.
Swissness
The kybun brand is about Swiss technology and innovation and the vision of producing a shoe in the home country of its inventor. In a business climate where companies big and small have relocated part or all of their operations abroad, it is notable that kybun has done the exact opposite. Investing domestically and consolidating its production in Switzerland which is now the main hub of kybun shoe production.
The kybun shoe is the healthy tool for every standing and walking situation and is probably the easiest and singularly best investment you will ever make for the well-being of your feet.
